Refugee and Immigrant Support Services

The United States has always embraced those fleeing persecution. Stories about displaced families striving to become contributing citizens are embedded in our social conscience. Many arrive in the US with little more than the clothes on their back, yet often find their passion to build a new life is not enough to overcome the barriers to a positive transition. Surgance helps these individuals and families in transition.

Recently, a 21 year old female refugee landed in Denver, Colorado on a cold winter’s day wearing only a summer outfit and sandals. Unable to speak English and with an infected tooth, she faced the task of finding work in 120 days and repaying the cost of her travel or risk being sent back. Today through the help of Surgance and its partners she is learning English and has a part-time job. Her determination and positive spirit lead Surgance partners to underwrite her dental work and engage her in a mentoring program. Surgance and its partners are working to provide a solid foundation for thousands of refugees who await the chance to earn their US Citizenship.

Surgance Refugee and Immigrant Support provides educational opportunities and holistic life support services to people from around the world whose lives are in transition and need assistance. Surgance helps these individuals apply for green cards, jobs and places to live. We provide meals, comfort and language acquisition. Additionally, Surgance volunteers help our new neighbors with health related issues and gaining access to education. Surgance is a friend to the displaced.

Who we serve: We serve displaced people from regions around the world. We believe that people from every tribe, nation, ethnicity, culture, and religious background are valuable and it is important to give assistance in seasons of transition.

How we do it: Cultural diversity will continue to increase in almost every community. Therefore, we will intentionally develop multicultural and intercultural programs and bridge community partnerships to facilitate this value.

What we do: We connect with people from the beginning of their transition until they are established and self-sustaining in their new community.  This includes connections to quality educational, vocational, financial and health care entities.
