Our mission is to channel uncommon partners toward common ground social issues in order to change lives and transform communities for the better. We believe a great way to affect long-term social transformation is to develop and reproduce effective programs which address the core needs of communities.  The criteria we seek in Surgance programs and partnerships reflect our Philosophy of Transformation:

UNCOMMON PARTNERS: Our programs are designed to bring people and organizations together that don’t normally work together, in order to focus on an issue they all care about. In short, we bring community together to work on community.

COMMON GROUND: Our programs address issues which are of common concern to all, regardless of background, beliefs or motivation. Surgance works only on social issues that are non divisive within communities. Examples include education, homelessness, foster care and feeding.

CHANGING LIVES: Our programs transform communities and change lives for the better.

Our strategy to achieve this is to empower and equip world changers to go change the world using the Surgance platform by assisting them with birthing, growing and managing their nonprofit idea.

Many people that have an idea to serve the global community believe that the only way to advance their idea is to start a new nonprofit organization. Typically, these leaders have a desire to change the world through a specific program idea to address a single issue, or they are focused on bringing comprehensive transformation to a local area or to a particular population of people. However, the great majority are not interested in learning the finer complexities of building, managing and advancing a nonprofit organization. They want to be out “in the field” providing services or training others on how to do what they do. The last thing they want to do is to sit behind a desk, work on a computer and phone all day, recruit and manage a board, file 990′s and make sure they are compliant with the latest legislation and updated tax code.
