Construction, Painting and Renovation

Millions of square feet of walls have been painted under Surgance leadership in urban and rural centers across the United States, primarily in Title I schools.

A fresh coat of paint can provide a striking and immediate impact. If you have ever painted, you know a little color can breathe new life into fading environments. Surgance has established a collaborative social action initiative with local and national partners providing the funds and thousands of volunteers providing the fuel that is restoring buildings of community interest in communities all over the nation.

The US Department of Education reports that improving an educational environment improves standardized test scores by 11%.

Over 25,000 students in New York City alone have returned to newly painted classrooms since members of the Surgance team began their first renovation in the Bronx. Since then, corporate partners, government officials, faith-based organizations and more than 6,000 volunteers have collaborated to paint or otherwise improve more than 40 schools and other buildings of community interest in cities coast to coast and border to border.

Join the Surgance movement and watch fading school buildings, declining neighborhoods and historic architecture enjoy new life! You can volunteer at a local event or even act as a catalyst to bring Surgance to a school near and dear to your heart.
