The Surgance Student Athlete Showcase powered by ShowcaseU.com assists underrepresented populations with access to postsecondary athletic and academic opportunities including scholarships. ShowcaseU.com is a company with a unique, proven and proprietary method for assisting student athletes with these goals for a fee. In the inner city and among disadvantaged populations though, the need is further intensified without the ability to pay for this type of service. A core challenge is to prepare these youth lacking access to resources to participate successfully in higher education and the workplace. Enter Surgance. With our new Student Athlete Showcase program, Surgance is doing something about this by launching the new program in conjunction with the Indianapolis-based ShowcaseU.com (SU). Through Surgance, SU and third party donors, the new program will provide the same services SU normally offers for a fee to underprivileged youth that can benefit greatly from this type of instruction and technology.

The program founders and directors are current major league baseball pitcher Chad Durbin and former minor league baseball player Jake Chapman. Chad pitches for the Cleveland Indians and has more than 15 years of professional baseball experience, including a World Championship with the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies. Jake and Chad met when they both were drafted by the Kansas City Royals and became minor league roommates. Jake was a Division II All American pitcher.
