The primary fixtures in the structure of society are the distinctive, stable arrangement of systems whereby human beings in a society interact and live together. They are embedded systems, or norms, which shape the actions of social agents and they are Business, Education, Religion, Government and Social/Cultural.
Bringing about Holistic Community Transformation requires an understanding of the interconnectedness of those systems and the interaction between them. What is Holistic Community Transformation? According to the Council of State Community Development Agencies, it is the conscious, intended collaboration on three major components:
- housing and physical development
- economic development
- human investment
Collaboration, forging and nurturing relationships across systems and agencies, is essential if we are to be successful in facing the challenges of transforming communities holistically. Collaboration allows the development of a shared vision, a shared sense of problems, their solutions, and outcomes. Focused collaboration between these systems maximizes impact on society.
